Product Review: Emeril's Big Easy Bold K-Cup

Go easy on me.  This is my first product review.  Do I get a point for the 'easy' pun?

So, my wife and I finally purchased a Cuisinart SS-700 single serve brewing system.  We were totally hooked on it while staying at a friend's house for the weekend.  It's in the hallway between our two bedroom's upstairs.  Going down stairs has proven to be too difficult to navigate before coffee.  Maybe I will review it in the future.

Those of you that are fimiliar with the Kuerig style of hot beverage brewing systems know what K-cups are.  For those of you new to this, a brief explanation is in order.  K-cups are little plastic cups filled with the beverage "base" of your choosing and covered with a foil lid.  You place one of these in the neck of your Kuerig machineand a hole is punctured through the foil lid and the bottom of the the cup. You press the the brew button and Voila! in about 20 seconds hot water passes through your K-cup in to the mug of choice below and your beverage is ready.

Normally when you purchase a new single serve brewing system, like our SS-700 or similar device, you get a sample starter kit of random coffees and teas.  Over the years you may have noticed the sections of 64 oz. Chock Full O'Nuts, Folgers, and 8 O'Clock coffee tins dwindle and the K-Cup offering expand.  There are all kinds of coffees and teas and other beverages to choose from.

While working through the samples provided to us, I found that most of the coffees in our selection to be on the rather weak side.  Some of them were watery if I brewed a 12oz cup and just not quiet up to par on a second attempt at 8 or 10 oz.  By the way, why are those even selections?  Outside of espresso, who drinks an 8 oz cup of coffee?

So now to Emerils Big Easy Bold.  It is my go-to coffee of choice now for our morning selection.  I haven't tried all of the different selections available to me, but this was the first one that I've stumbled across that I really enjoy.  I like my coffee strong.  Not bitter, peel the paint off strong, but very aromatic and bold.  Just as the name suggests.  My wife even likes it.  Its not overpowering for her after adding her french vanilla creamer to it.  It seems to work for differing palates.

Emeril's Big Easy Bold gets a +1 from us.  Let me know if you have any questions.
